Hello,
I am sorry I didn't get back to this until just now. I grabbed the vmkernel.log and hostd.log files from each of my two ESXi servers (see attached).
Thanks so much!

Hi melgoth,
Thanks for reporting this and giving so much detail.
To investigate this a bit further, if you still have a vmware.log (or vmware-*.log) for the VM failing to start on Workstation Player 15.5.2, I'd like to look at that file, if that is OK with you. It will be located in the VM's directory, and the build number 15785246 will appear in the first line of the logfile. Could you possibly attach it to a reply here?
Depending on how the virtual disk was created, the file I:\VMWare\MorgothVm\MorgothVm-0disk_H-Misc_D-Data.vmdk might be either very small (less than a few kilobytes) or quite large. If it is a small file, could you please also attach that file to your reply? It might explain what is going on.
Thanks,

Hi,
Ok. Just asking as there had been issues with Logitech mice reported earlier down here at the forum.
Are you using a dual screen setup?
If so, does the issue show at both screens?

Thank you daphnissov and Adam, use VGT mode works!
I guess I would need to try and determine the name of the reservation associated to the original machine
What exactly are you trying to do? You never mentioned. Reading that, I assume the machine was previously managed, then became unmanaged (by choice or backup/restore, etc.), and you want to import it again?
OK, so what you are saying is that a machines reservation Id is unique to the machine, i.e. not a pointer to an actual reservation that's available for assignment to a new machine.
No, the reservation is the Infrastructure Reservation, which contains many machines. As you are importing a machine you need to identify beforehand which reservation it needs to be on, as vRA cannot do this itself (you may have many reservations pointing at the same compute/storage/network endpoints). If the machine was previously managed you should be able to get it by looking at the VirtualMachineHistory or VirtualMachinePropertiesHistory tables in IaaS, or from the resourcedata of the DELETED resource on the cat_resource table in postgres.
That seems like a lot of work though and if this is going to be repeated you should probably have some other manual or automated logic of determining the reservation. It may be easier to resolve the reservation by using Reservation Policies and working backward through Policy -> Reservation -> Filter by Business Group
I'm having the same issue, I tried turning off my wi-fi and just connecting via ethernet, but it didn't work for me. Are there any other solutions?
Hello Gurus,
I have vCenter assigned two VMNICs with diferent subnets, but yet I can see my boot URL is configured with the 2nd VMNIC is there's a way to re-configure it to point to the first IP VMNIC?
This is just a home Lab and I am practicing to play with Auto Deploy and I will use vCenter as TFTP so I will let the DHCP server to point to the below IP which is 192.168.2.5, however I am willing to know how to change this value
Thanks for your help
TheBobkin,
Thank you for the info.
I was able to add a USB Datastore to my ESXI host. can add folders and files no issues.
I went to this advanced setting Syslog.global.logdir [USB-Datastore] scratch/log
A GENERAL SYSTEM ERROR OCCURED INTERNAL ERROR
I then tried my NFS storage Syslog.global.logdir [NFS06] scratch/log
Same Error.
I was able to blank out the settings. Maybe I can blank it out for now then add it to the VSANDatastore
Seems I can not move this to another datastore.
Thoughts?
Tom
Any reason why you wouldn't deploy these as VPP apps instead?
Thanks buddy
Is anyone able to assist me, please? I'd really like to get this software working.
So, I swear I've done this a few dozen times. Spun up a DC on an ESXi box, added DNS role...
My VMs can resolve using the DNS, but no computers outside the VM Network can resolve DNS.
They can ping the DNS server, I can remote into it from them, they just can't resolve DNS.
What's the goal of enrolling these BYOD devices with accounts that are not present in your AD?
Ever since updating from 11.5.1 to 11.5.2, my 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Server guest OS cannot maintain a stable connection to the host OS via file sharing (i.e., the host has file sharing turned on). There are frequent disconnects and even when the connection is working, performance is very slow. The host OS is 10.13.6 High Sierra.
I use MacOS file sharing because VMware Shared Folders do not correctly transfer older MacOS files that have resource forks, etc., but it works fine with MacOS file sharing. Also, I can store older MacOS applications in the host OS Applications folder and run them from within the guest OS. VMware Shared Folders work fine with a Windows 10 guest OS.
Anyone else run into this problem and have a solution?
Hi,
Make sure that, the Horizon Agent version on the VDI and the Horizon Connection Server version are matching.

Either your Windows installation is not using EFI firmware (unlikely, but possible if it was installed a long time ago and upgraded in-place) or your system has ended up with its Boot Camp bootloader on the other disk (/dev/disk0) from the actual Boot Camp installation (/dev/disk1), which is uncommon and might be challenging to get working... I'm not sure Fusion's Boot Camp support even considers that to be a possibility.
Random thing to try:
Go into the Boot Camp VM's settings and go into Advanced and switch the Firmware type from UEFI to Legacy BIOS, and then try powering it on. (If it doesn't work (which is somewhat likely really), switch it back afterwards.)
(You may notice my posts are getting a touch less certain... my experience is mostly in EFI/UEFI but not so much in Boot Camp, so I'm figuring things out as I go, and guessing a bit along the way...)
Thanks,

Hi, I’m having problems with the Logical Switch Monitor feature that test VEPs communication. I have four LS in two compute clusters. Each cluster have its own DVS and the Transport Zone spans on both of them.
In three of the LSs I did the ping test under the LS Monitor area and they fail when I select either hosts from cluster-a as the source and either hosts of cluster-b as the destination.
One of the LS success in the same test, although all LS are created in the same manner. However, if I exchange the source and destination host for the ping test for that LS that works OK, it fails. Moreover, if I instead of doing the ping test I do the broadcast one, selecting as the source either hosts of cluster-a, it shows me that hosts from cluster-b are unresponsive, when the same host used as source host but using the ping test success!!!
I checked using the vmkping selecting the vxlan stack, size of 1572 and don’t fragment flag all the connections between al VEPs (every combinations of VTEPs between each other) and all of them were successful.
And lastly, I tested a ping from one VM in cluster-a to a VM in cluster-b, both connected to the LS that fails the ping test, using the don’t fragment flag and a size of 1472 (inside the VM OS the maximum size of a packet still remains at 1500 bytes) and it works OK!!!
So, my question is, could it be possible that the UI LS monitor ping and broadcast test do not work as one would expect? It is to say, can everything be working OK although the UI test fails? Or there is actually a problem I’m not seeing?
Regards,
Guido.
Did anyone resolve this issue? We are experiencing the exact same problem. Seems to be a 12-20 seconds delay on reconnect. RDP is instant.
- WIN10 - 1809
- Horizon View 7.11
- Imprivata OneSign 7.0
- No GPU
- Blast
The issue also occurred on 7.7.
Can you provide more information or a sample blueprint? What version of vRA 8?
I just deployed to vCenter and AWS with a single compute stack with Count = 2. The clone/runinstance commands, and all EBS subscriptions appeared to run simultaneously for me.
The blueprint had no other components on it except for a single Cloud.Network which already exists.
Are you sure you don't have those components dependent on something else?
Just want to add to this. When you uninstall the sas adapter, if it requests a restart, "Do Not Restart" as it will be installed again. Once the upgrade to 19582 is completed, the adapter will be re-installed. MS is aware of this, hopefully they correct this soon.
Is your external network routed? or same L2?
Guessing could be firewall in between, firewall in the AD for traffic comming for other networks (Routed Network)
Try telnet from the VMs that are not working.
You're very welcome
CHEERS
All on the same L2.
I've tried disabled the firewall on the DC, if that's what you mean?
All of the VMs are working fine. It's any machine that's not on the VM server, so physical machines, other servers, etc.
- What if Computers outside his VM Network can't ping the DNS Servers from the first place :=)
Let's start from the bottom to the top is DNS pingable? if yes, then is there's a Firewall rule that prevents that
It's always Ping'ability/DNS/NTP then Firewall :')
Hi Gurus,
I have a 2 node ESXi Host Cluster managed by vcenter. I am running ESXi 6.5 U2. Both the ESXi is managed by vcenter and both the ESXi is showing as green in the vcenter console. Both the ESXi host has a similar configuration. When I try to access one of the ESXi hosts using WebGUI/SSH it is not accessible, however, the host is pingable. The Lockdown is disabled on both the host.
I also tried to restart the SSH, ESXi SHell, DCUI Daemon from the Vcenter console on the ESXi host having the issue but still, the issue is not resolved.
Any suggestion or guidance by the Gurus is highly appreciated.
Thanks
AJ
Hi Guido,
I had a similar issue long time ago, PIM in the routing component between VXLANs was the solution.
One more thing, go to the Controllers and:
show control-cluster logical-switches vni ## (Number of the LS that you are using)
Then go to the controller that has active that vni and:
show control-cluster logical-switches arp-table ####
Check if information is being populated.
One more thing,
testing two vms in the same LS in Cluster A, whats the result?
testing two vms in the same LS in Cluster B, whats the result?
Saludos
Test Telnet please, from the VMs that are not working.
And, double check configuration parameters for Network interfaces =P
Hi @anjan_mj
For what you are saying I guess that if you run a /etc/init.d/hostd status services should be running... Doble check please.
Maybe its a networking issue. Are you connected in the same L2 as the management interfaces of the esxi/vcenter or in a routed network?
Try this please:
Telnet the ESXi that is not working from your terminal.
SSH into vCenter and:
curl -v telnet://ESXIIP:443
Double check DG and Netmask configuration on the ESXi that is not working
Cheers
I have checked the question but in my case from the ISP router, and I have a single managed switch. Netgear "GS108PEv3 - 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Plus ". I am not using any VLAN Tagging.
Suppose that doesnot fit my answer.
Thanks
AJ
Hi,
I am unable to login to the SHELL to check "/etc/init.d/hostd status". I am connected to a single layer 2 switch.
Checked the DG and Netmask it is configured properly.
The output of the command
root@vcsa [ ~ ]# curl -v telnet://10.0.0.110:443
* Rebuilt URL to: telnet://10.0.0.110:443/
* Trying 10.0.0.110...
* TCP_NODELAY set
* Connected to 10.0.0.110 (10.0.0.110) port 443 (#0)
Thanks
Anjan
This sounds silly, but can you do a reboot of the ESXi?
The telnet from your PC, is coonecting or not?
Rebooted the ESXi host. Still, the issue persists. It seems some issues with Networking. Looking into it
Thanks
Anjan

Hi Ilian,
Thank you for the assistance. I cannot find the action 'getAllSnapshotResultInDatastoreBrowser' in the workflow, but found 'getPropertiesForAll' action and 'get snapshots' scripting which can provide me some info. I will check it out and post again if I have some queries.

Which VMware product?
I Just updated I found that USB is not working
the VMware USB Arbitration Service was not running and couldn't be started due to missing "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VMware\USB\vmware-usbarbitrator64.exe"
The whole USB-catalog is missing
How can I fix this, should I downgrade to 15.5.2? or?
/Lars
