If you have the ability to start with a fresh VCDB database, by all means do it. Our situation was a bit unique in that it would have actually taken longer recreating the vCenter environment than migrating given the virtual appliances and host configurations we have running. Additionally, if you follow the actual steps it'll take roughly an hour instead of spending the hours and hours I did figuring it out. So if anyone wants to migrate instead of rebuild from scratch, now they have an option.
Plus I wanted to see if I could do it successfully.
